Preview and sharing
See a draft on a real phone with a preview link or QR code, and turn the link off when you are done.
Use a preview link when you want someone, including you on your phone, to see the latest draft of a screen without publishing it. Anyone with the link can open it. They do not need a Miniwall account.
Preview links need the Indie plan or above.
Ways to preview
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| The editor canvas | The draft in a device frame, with a device selector, Light mode and Dark mode, and a language selector. See Canvas and devices. |
| The template dialog | A template at phone size in Light and Dark, before you create a screen. See Template gallery. |
| A preview link | The latest saved draft on its own web page, on any device. This page. |
Share a preview
On the Screens page, open the card menu (Actions for the screen name) and choose Share preview.
The Share a preview dialog opens and creates the link the first time. While it does, you see grey placeholders and the label Creating link.
Copy the link with Copy (a toast says Link copied), or scan the QR code with a phone camera.
Select Done to close the dialog. The link stays on.
The dialog says: Anyone with the link sees the latest saved draft of the screen name, with example prices. It is not published and buttons do not charge anyone.
Each screen has one link. Opening the dialog again shows the same link.
What the person sees
The link opens /preview/ followed by a long random token on your dashboard's address. The page shows:
- The screen name and Draft saved with the time of the last save, followed by example prices.
- The screen at phone width on a stage. On a phone, it fills the screen.
- A Light and Dark switch, only when the design defines dark colors.
The preview is live code, not a picture. Buttons respond, but they do nothing real: a purchase button shows Purchases are off in previews, and a link button shows Would open and the address. Previews are never counted as views.
Changes you save in the editor show up when the person reloads the page. Autosave runs about two seconds after your last edit, so a preview is usually seconds behind. The preview shows the draft even if the screen has never been published.
If the link does not work
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| This preview is not available | The link was turned off, or the screen was deleted. Ask whoever shared it for a new link. |
| Could not load the preview | A network or server problem. Check the connection and reload. |
Turn off a link
In the Share a preview dialog, select Turn off link. A toast says Preview link turned off and the dialog closes. Anyone who has the old link sees This preview is not available. Sharing the screen again creates a new link with a new token.
Deleting a screen also removes its link.
Plans and roles
- Free projects do not have preview links. In the card menu, Share preview shows a lock badge for the plan that includes it, and selecting it opens the Plans page.
- If your project has used all of its monthly views and the grace period is over, creating a link fails with a message and a See plans button. See Plans and billing.
- Editors, admins and the owner can create and turn off links. Viewers do not see Share preview.
Good to know
- A link is a secret address. Anyone who has it can see your unpublished draft. Turn it off when the review is over.
- The page asks search engines not to index it.
- Preview data is never cached, so every load shows the draft as it is now.
