Projects
Create projects, switch between them, and understand what each project keeps separate.
A project is one product or website. Use one project for each site that has its own screens, keys, team and plan. Everything you build in Miniwall lives inside a project.
What a project holds
| It has its own | Notes |
|---|---|
| Screens and their versions | Not shared with other projects |
| Placements | Placement keys only need to be unique inside the project |
| API keys and allowed websites | A public key works for one project |
| Members and roles | You can be an owner in one project and a viewer in another |
| Plan and monthly views | Each project counts its own views against its own plan |
| Analytics | Per project |
| Uploaded images | Per project |
Your first project
When you sign in for the first time and have no projects, Miniwall creates one called My project and opens its Screens page. A new project starts with one public API key already created, so the Install page can fill it in for you.
After that, signing in opens the last project you used in that browser, or your first project if that one is gone.
Switch projects
Use the project switcher at the top of the sidebar, or in the top bar on a phone. It shows the current project's name and your role in it, such as Editor. Select it to see all your projects and choose another. The dashboard opens that project's Screens page.
You can also press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) and choose Switch to a project name.
Create a project
Open the project switcher and choose New project….
In the New project dialog, type a Name. The field suggests e.g. My app. Create project stays disabled until the name has at least one character.
Select Create project. The new project opens on its Screens page. While it is being created the button reads Creating….
Names can be up to 80 characters. Surrounding spaces are trimmed.
You become the Owner of every project you create.
Project limits
How many projects you can own depends on your plan.
| Plan | Projects you can own |
|---|---|
| Free | 1 |
| Indie | 1 |
| Pro, Team, Custom | No limit |
If you already own a project on Pro or above, you can create more. If you are at the limit, creating a project fails with Upgrade to Pro to use more than one project, and the message has a See plans button. Projects you already have are never removed when a plan goes down. See Plans and billing.
The limit counts projects you own. Projects where you are an admin, editor or viewer do not count.
Rename or delete a project
The dashboard has no page to rename or delete a project yet.
Leave a project
If you are not the owner, you can leave a project from its Members page by selecting Leave on your own row. The owner has to transfer ownership first. See Members and roles.
