Templates & screen types
Screen types
Beyond paywalls, a screen can welcome, ask, announce, warn or thank. Learn how each type works.
All screens are built the same way and use the same editor. The type only groups templates in the gallery. It is not saved in the screen.
What differs from a paywall
- A paywall has plan cards and a Purchase Button, and your site prices them.
- Other screens usually have Run your code buttons. Your site gets the Action ID in
onActionand decides what to do. - Screens without plans need no purchase button to publish.
- Every screen needs a way out: "Not now", "Maybe later" or "Skip" buttons, using Close the screen.
The types
| Type | Use it for | Templates |
|---|---|---|
| Paywall | Selling plans | Paywalls |
| Onboarding | Welcome, goals, tours, setup steps | Onboarding |
| Permission prompt | Explain a request before the browser asks | Permission prompts |
| Announcement | New features, sales, notices | Announcements |
| Feedback and ratings | Ratings, NPS, bug reports, surveys | Feedback and surveys |
| Account moment | Trial ending, payment failed, win-back | Account moments |
Good habits
- One main action (a filled button) and one quiet way out.
- For permissions, explain the benefit first. The main button runs your code, which then asks the browser.
- Survey answers are large buttons or answer cards, each with its own ID.
- Keep text readable in light and dark mode.
